In this fictional retelling of the biblical story of Caleb, Joshua's second in command is sent ahead to scout the land of Israel and bring back a report to Moses. Although his counterparts express fear of conquering the new land, the faith and determination of Caleb and Joshua encourages their people to continue on to the land God promised them. In the end, because of their unflinching faith and loyalty to God, they are the only two of the Hebrew scouts who continue on to the "land of milk and honey." This is the second volume in Rivers' "Sons of Encouragement" series (after The Priest), which explores the lives of biblical men and serves as a companion to her "A Lineage of Grace" series about biblical women.
